About this Book

Amara is drawn into a mystery hidden beneath the Twin Valleys when an ancient baobab begins whispering her name. Together with three unlikely companions, she discovers a forgotten world of ancient waterways, lost stories and secrets that have survived for generations. But as the past begins to awaken, Amara must learn that discovering Koruma is only the beginning and that some knowledge brings with it a responsibility to protect what others have forgotten.

Amara has always noticed the things other people overlook. But the ancient baobab overlooking her village begins whispering a mysterious word, Koruma, just as strange changes disturb the rivers and wildlife of the Twin Valleys. The arrival of Lumo, an elderly Storykeeper carrying songs and memories from distant places, offers the first clue. His sudden disappearance leaves behind a damaged map and a hidden message, drawing Amara into a search for answers with Kito, a practical and inquisitive boy from the neighbouring village of Tumo, and her friends Sewa and Tarek. Their search leads beyond the world they thought they knew, towards forgotten places, ancient knowledge and evidence that the stories of the Twin Valleys are connected to something much larger. Each discovery raises new questions about Koruma, the people who came before them and why so much of their knowledge has been forgotten. Amara's journey becomes more than a search for a missing Storykeeper. It is a journey into memory, friendship and responsibility, where courage sometimes means recognising what you do not yet understand. As the mystery deepens, Amara and her friends begin to realise that the Twin Valleys are only one small part of a much larger Koruma, a world of communities, paths and stories stretching far beyond home.
